Faraway Sag Harbor: The Hamptons’ Most Anticipated New Hotel Opening

One of Sag Harbor’s most recognizable waterfront hotels is about to begin a new chapter.

The boutique hospitality brand Faraway Hotels, known for its stylish coastal properties in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, is transforming the longtime harborfront hotel, Baron's Cove, into Faraway Sag Harbor.

The property was purchased for $66.5 million, and the new ownership group is investing roughly $54 million in renovations to redesign the hotel before reopening. Reservations are already available starting June 13, 2026, positioning it as one of the most anticipated new hotel openings in the Hamptons.

A Classic Sag Harbor Hotel, Reimagined

Baron’s Cove has long been one of Sag Harbor’s most recognizable hotels. The waterfront property sits directly on the harbor, within walking distance of the village’s restaurants, boutiques, and marina.

Under the Faraway brand, the hotel will be reimagined as a design-forward boutique stay while preserving its relaxed waterfront atmosphere.

What the Renovation Will Include

The redesign will modernize the property while keeping the intimate scale that makes Sag Harbor appealing.

Plans include:

  • 67 redesigned guest rooms and suites

  • landscaped courtyards and outdoor spaces

  • refreshed pool and lounge areas

  • new harbor-facing public spaces

The New Restaurant: Zagara

The hotel will also introduce Zagara, a restaurant inspired by the coastal flavors of southern Italy.

The concept is designed to move easily from daytime lunches to sunset cocktails and dinner — something that fits naturally with Sag Harbor’s harborfront setting.

Given the location, it’s likely to become one of the village’s most sought-after reservations.

Why This Opening Matters

New hotels rarely open in Sag Harbor, which has long preserved its small-scale village atmosphere more carefully than other parts of the Hamptons.

The scale of the investment — more than $120 million between the acquisition and renovation — signals a major reinvestment in one of the village’s most iconic waterfront properties.

When Faraway Sag Harbor opens its doors in June 2026, it will offer a refreshed boutique hotel experience in one of the Hamptons’ most charming and walkable destinations.
